Hey all, I know somewhere this has probably been asked before lol... But I was wondering if anyone could help me out... I want to do a engine transplant into my vh, removing the blue 253 and slapping in an rb30 (out of a vl) and was just wondering what else I need, as I don't want to start then run into problems...
So far I have...
Rb30 motor * * * *
Lume
Crossmemeber
Gearbox
Diff
Tail shaft
K frame
Ecu
I'm preety sure I still need vl fuel pump, fuel lines (do I need the fuel tank or can I use the standard vh one) but I'm not sure what else I
need... If any one could give me a list, or help me it out on what else I need, it would be muchly appreciated thanks...
Allready a thread on this topic.
RB30 into a VB
I have just finished this conversion on my vh wagon. You can use you vh tank but its much easier to get a vl tank.they will bolt straight into you vh. that way you have both internal an external pumps allready setup and return line.
The gearbox cross member from the vl will not bolt into a vh.You will have to fabricate your cross member..Pretty easy task if you have a welder and some knowhow. use a vl wiring loom.
use a vl dash and heater core/fan etc. blank off the original hole in the plenum and burr out a new hole on the side for the ducting to run to. pretty easy conversion but it takes lots of time to do properly.
the germans designed it, the aussies built it, the japs got it moving and the wogs got it dosing...
I have done this exact conversion. I would not replace the VH dash with the vl one. Its a nightmare. Just modify the loom to suit. The vl loom needs work as none of the light connectors etc are compatable.
You would also need to fit 6 cyliner springs.
A good job after completion.
