manual coversion and shifter location were it comes out?
ok im thinking of either the t56 or supra turbo 5spd using a castle mains conversion kit just wondering if theres gonna be any dramas with shifter line up with the console thanks
well i presume you have a v8 to justify spending the coin on the conversion that you have in mind the t56 will fit throught the hole in the tunnel after you remove the current cover plate, the t56 should have a modified t5 shifter on it as to bring the shifter forward in the car as standard the shifter hangs over the back of the box, (i put a t56 into a vn v8 recently all went relatively sweet except the bell housing was a modified std t56 one and the hole for the clutch fork is to big and allows the fork to hit the clutch when vehicle is up around the 6g mark in revs will be getting this sorted soon before it goes back on dyno)
it know works well after some teething issues, hopefully your conversion comes with a different type of bellhousing to suit the conversion because i felt a little dissapointed with the bellhousing setup for the money outlayed by the owner, and the follow up service was also unfortunatley a little dissapointing.
i have heard the supra conversion i also a good setup the gearboxes are also very strong and reliable
at the end of the day it comes down the money you want to spend and how much you would prefer a 6 speed or a 5 speed
diff gears would also need to be done with the 6 speed and 3.08 gears do not help the box in any way
we went 4.11 but 3.9 would be also fine
i'm going a t5 in my vk and with the t5 console insert from hdt it will fit in the right spot and look original and factory fitted as will the t56 for yours
