Pretty sure the VIN became compulsory in 80 or 81.

I thought it was mid 70's myself. But yeah - Strut tower. The one on the rad support was the body number from memory. Very long time since I had a VK.

Well come to think of it, one of my old 70's CT90 has a placard with the VIN and ADR compliance on it so your probably right.

VIN numbers were only introduced to Australian manuafactured vehicles from 1989 onwards. Before that it is was a chassis number which was usually much shorter in length and did not contain the same amount of information as the VIN.
