    Default Holden Respray Recommendation

    Hey all,
I'm looking for a place in the sydney area (anywhere) that can do a good paint job on my HX Kingswood without costing the earth.
I'm looking at the 5 grand mark. doesn't have a lot of rust the paint is just flaky and i want it to look nice and original.
I've been quoted between 5-6 grand by one paint place, pending them seeing it obviously.

    thank you

thats pretty good. wouldnt expect much of a job for that price. there is a lot more to respraying than people think. especially if there are any repairs invbolved (which there will be)

id look at a couple of their other jobs before you commit though. they doing it in 2pac?

I believe they are doing 2pac, i would like to shop around a bit for a price, I want them to also fit a few rubber kit for the car which i would supply.
So yea if anyone knows a company that would be great.

the thing is i can get it sprayed for 1500 bucks... but it depends on how picky you are on its finish. for that price you can expect over spray everywhere, peel, crows feet and most propably recurring rust in a year or so. personally i would never go with someone who offers it too cheap unless its a family member or a VERY good business partner.

so far, for my impala, i have spent well in excess of 2500 on materials alone. that doesnt include the 300 or so hours that have been put into it.

ari666 are you doing this yourself @ home?
The damage on the car rust wise doesn't seem all that bad, i'm not after magic just the original car look, not after a show car finish, because it'll always rust back, but i am after a fairly good job within reasonable amount of money.

Edit: i've also sent through an email to the people DerekP recommended.

    anymore ideas?
I've been thinking that i might not have the whole car resprayed but sections of it, because the overall paint on the car is pretty good and then if it gets worse down the track do a full respray.
This way i can focus on the interior so i get it perfect, (few expensive fixes required)

Any updates on the paint job? Did you get a response from Classic Auto Body Repair at Gladesville, what did they say?

I have some news, I found a place local to me that will do a semi restoration, as thats what i'm after at the moment.
I have an appointment with them on this friday, It looks like i'll get them to start the job in a few months time, they seem to do really nice work and know what they are on about, i'll send through the details if you like?

I did call the people in Gladesville, they seemed like they knew what they were doing but i didn't go in because it's really far away from where I am, but i mean if this doesn't go through on friday then i'll be going in to them.

Good stuff. Any ideas on price? I will be doing similar to my VH, not show car finish but just good original factory type spray job.

Like you - the eastern suburbs is a bit further out than I'd like, but if the price and quality is right then I could be tempted, there are too many hacks out there - it's tough to know where to go... I won't be doing anything until later on in the year however.
