Exclamation What to do with VH SL/E 202

My '82 Vh SL/E has a 202 running on L.P.G in it (unfortunately) which is having problems starting, bringing oil to the top of the motor & backfiring when trying to start. My friend thinks it was thrashed before given to me by my cousins....thus probably why he gave it to me for $300 which immaculate paint, VL Walkingshaws and great interior. Also what number battery is needed for this motor as the current 42 is dead now.

    Cheers

dude go with a battery with tones of currant cranking amps (ccs) always good for older cars! spesh in the cold! should flush the engine a few times! might fix ya oil distribution problems. yea lpg aint any good for an engine not originally designed for it! iv heard valves suffer severly! do ya have the option of using fuel? i recomend you use it lol! still ya cant complain for 300 bucks!

    good luck with it all

id say my self, pull out the lpg 202, along with tank and all the lines and get another 202 would be the best bet. and problly cheaper than fixing the lpg 202. let me know how u go.

just get rid of the gas and put a carby kit though it.

these cars were not built for gas and its like torturing them. you will find a lot of problems go away when you are running on tuned petrol

also what number battery should i be using then lol

    cheers

lol ya can pick up a 202 from a wreckers for like 100 bucks but if ya want one that will run nicely for ya get a reconditioned 202! lots of places do em um ya prob lookin at say 500. if ya got th tools and an engine lift or block and tackle its pretty easy to do yaself! um just to be on the safe side id get a pro to take out the gas tank just so ya dont blow yaself to hell.

Yeah get rid of the gas conversion and either rebuild you motor or get a change over but I'd piss off the factory carby and put on a 350 Holly as I found in the past the Holly was more reliable and I get better economy with the Holly as well.

getting rid of the LPG is easy. there is a tap on your tank which will stop any gas escaping. just lock that tap off then set to your engine bay. the most important bit to get rid of IMO is the fuel cut solenoid. and the mixer, just cos' its ugly.

the carby kit depends on what carby your running bro. stay away from the brand 'fuel miser' from my expierence with quaddy kits they are junk.
