Can anyone tell me what is the best way to remove the rear side windows. I want to replace the bottom chrome mould with one from a VH wagon SLX. Other than the temptation to smash the window, I am sure there is an easier way. I have looked through the manual to see how it is done but doesn't explain it very well.
you wanna remove the window to get the mould off? just lift the mould with a small flat blade screwdriver and push it upwards. there should be clips behind it.
Unfortunately its not as easy as that. The chrome mould actually sits under the glass and rubber mould. On a WH SL wagon there is only a mould under the window. On the SLX model its all round the window. I want to put the SLX trim onto the SL. According to the manual you have to remove the window but it doesn't explain clearly how its done.
Its a bitch to do. Its best to have window wound all the way down. What i did was pull most of the window channel off, got a flat blade screw driver and tap the chrome moulds off from the area where the window channel was. It does bend it out a little bit too.

A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!
If ur talking about the windows in the wagon part, it might be best taking it to a window place to get them to remove them. I ended up slicing the rubber all the way around the window to pop it out, then just bought a set of rubbers from the wreckers. But most didn't wanna sell me just the rubbers coz I guess they knew they'd prolly break the window trying to pop it out lol.
I put my chrome mouldings back in after the windows were back in tho. Just put a few screwdrivers under the rubber and lifted it up and slid the chrome strip back under it. Used a bit of dishwashing liquid too, to lube it up. Took me about an hour of messing around to get both sides in properly.
