Default VK Calais harmonic balancer replacement

    Hi All

I have taken on the task of maintaining my Dad's 85 VK Calais to save him some $$$$$. I am a Ford man at heart and all my experience is on those, the VK is just a tad different

Anyway, Dad was told by the NRMA that his harmonic balancer needed replacing so I shot off the Bursons and picked up one for the black 202, which he has. The HB I got has a single pulley but when I look at the crank on his car it has 3 belts running off it. Is this *all* balancer or are there other pulleys on the crank, separate from the balancer? The "handyman" workshop manual says nothing about these (as usual!)

Any info anyone could chuck my way would be appreciated.

    Cheers
    Bruce

I guess we are talking 202 here, the balancer is a single pully which is a friction fit tot he crank no bolt, a 2 pully extention bolts ontot he balencer ones fitted to give the other 2 pullys.

Cool, thanks Scott. Yup, 202 black EFI.

So I have the right balancer but the friction fit is a bit of a worry. Just how difficult is it to get them back on without a bolt to drive it back? I would be doing this in situ....

    Cheers

Prolly have to pull the radiator out, then use a brass punch to hit it on....could take a fair few hits tho.

We used to use an old brass hammer and a sledge sideways. Hold the brass hammer against the balencer and hit it with the sledge.

If you dont have a brass hammer then a piece of 4x2 hardwood and a sledge will be fine. Dont forget to replace the timingcover seal else it will leak.

    cheers
