Hello
This is my first post on this forum and I'm looking for some help for my Holden Commodore VH.
I would like to be able to match my VIN to my car, I called Holden to see if they had my VIN on record, to find out if my VIN was my car that would come up on there system, but they can't help me.
So i was wondering if there is anybody on this forum with this knowledge or can the point me in the right direction..
Thanks In Advance
Rafmed
there are some who are schooled saying "there is no such thing as a vin on anything previous to VL" and then there are those (like me) that say that the vin (or chasis number) is stamped on the passenger side strut tower.
Ok, go to your VK berlina and have a look for 3 compliance plates. One should be a safety compliance plate, One should b a Body identification plate and one will be a 14 Digit letters and numbers plate which is called a VIN.
Now the people that say that there are no VINS previous to the VL commodore is because that the RTA only started to record the VIN @ 1989.Before that there records only show chassis # not VIN.
But @ the time if you wanted to called Holden for a part you would tell them the 14 Digit VIN on the car.
RTA only recorded the chassis number which is stamp on the shock tower,That's why back in the day it was sooo easy to do number job or re birthing of the Holden's cause all you needed to do (without getting into detail) is change the plates over and there you have a Brock of some sort.
I think that's some good info for people to know..
