    Default vk console

    Hello ppl

i got a vk commodore and the console that was in it when i bought it wasn't secure to the car, i had a look and the console that was in there and it only has 2 holes for 2 screws, and on the car where the console screw's into only has one hole, so i thought it must of been the wrong console, went to the wreckers and asked for a console out of a 85 vk commodore,

they gave me 1 for $35, pretty good i think, anyway it has 2 holes also, any1 know reason why is this?

    cheers,
    jade.

do u have a hole in the front or the back??
maybe it got new carpet in it and they didnt put the holes for the screw thru the carpet
sit the consloe in where it shud be and get a texta and put it thru the texta hole in the concole to make a dot on the carpet
then cut out the dot and there shud be a hole

The ones with the big console compartment in a VK have two screws inside the compartment at the rear, should also be something up the front to hold it down

It depends which console you have, the low level console has one screw near the hand brake and two up the front.
The high rise console has two screws in the compartment as said above that screw to a bracket welded to the floor, cant remember if there is a clip or something up the front but i know there is no screws up there.

ooooooh i think my car must of had the low level 1, cause the screw's are in the same place that u described, cheers mate!

here are the pics anyway lol, i thought the console i had when i bought it was out of a different commodore like a vl or something, so i went n got 1 out of a vk and it was the same, didn't know there was 2 different version, oh well gotta look for a low level 1 now lol.

Yup that the high rise Calais/Berlina console, is pretty easy to put in, just need the bracket from the floor, the wrecker should be able to cut it out for you, then all you need to do is either weld or screw it down to the floor, you should be able to see where it goes under the carpet, in the third pic you can see where there is no sound deadening, that's where it goes.

Can take a pic tonight for ya as I have welded one to the floor pan of the wagon

The pic above is definitely a VB-VK console, not VL. The bracket you are looking for is just a small piece of steel with two holes in it, just make one.

I'd agree the long as screws would be an easier option.

This is what the bracket looks like anyways.

I have the high rise console floor mount bracket down the shed (the 1 and only one I have seen on ebay in 5 years lol) and can trace around it on a bit of A4 and save as a printable PDF so you can then recreate it at the right size...

let me know if you want it by sending a pm of your email to me

    cheers
    Greg
