ok i hafta do it because she is totally ****ed! recon i can figure it out as i done lots of mechanical shit but just wanting a guide! tried a search on here and noone has done a thread on the 202! help me out and il explain everything i do and any complications so ppl later can read and have a go for themselves!![]()
Can't remember exactly, but I rekon there's 4 bolts holding it on. Undo them and it should come straight out. Might have to twist and turn it a bit but should come straight of. Take the plate/lid off the new pump and fill it with grease, use new gaskets, put it back in, torque it down. Fill ur filter up with oil and chuck it on as quick as possible b4 to much oil drains out. Take ur coil lead off so ur motor don't fire, and crank it over. It should get oil pressure pretty soonish. If not undo the filter a bit and start pulling it off. Might make a mess, but somehow that works. Once u get oil pressure, put ur coil lead back on, run it for a bit (till she warms up), then stop it, dump the oil and replace the oil and filter.
Sometimes ya don't even have to use grease in the pump, but it's better to, to help get oil pressure.
That should just about cover it.![]()

oh sweet as dude! thats exactly what i was lookin for! little tips like the grease is great! and turnin over the car without it firing! cheers! what ya recon would happen if ya just fired it up? just out of curiosity lol!
If it doesn't start pumping oil straight away when you fire it up , it will be running without any lubrication and will stuff the motor
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
2nded grease ur new pump or ur motor will run dry till it primes itself not good im a mechanic and its done to every thing that leaves shop after a rebuild
Couple of things, you may need to support the motor and remove the engine mount to get to it and its better to use a light white grease or vasoline and dont fill the pump with grease it just needs a smear around the gears.
oh ok cheers i got blue grease. that gonna be ok? its only a colour right?
No its about viscosity and dissolve ability. You dont want a blob of grease floating around with your oil, and you would be one lucky dude if it all came out with your first oil change.
ok so is there a grade or viscosity rating i should be lookin for?
vasolene is good for the job, it disolves into the oil and isnt likely to clog anything.
ok sweet! thats what il use then!cheers everyone! now i just gotta tow the car from adelaide!
