i dunno what it is
but like when u push the lever to turn on the ac. it wont ingage it makes like a chhh noise and thats it
nothing comes thru no cold air no hot air not even any air
i dunno if its regassing, or the hoses have come off but yer
i dunnooooo.
does the a/c having no gas do this to the car?
or how could i fix this
Im guessing that the Chh noise is the vacuum pulling air through the switch as you change functions, and if it continues it will mean you have a broken hose or one of the flap actuators have a hole in the diaphragm.
Air con system is pretty simply in the early girls.
In the VK AC only operates in NORM, MAX and DEM.
Firstly your fan should operate no matter where the switch is, but the switch is almost always dodgy and it will work in some then not others.
First check that in the modes stated above the Condenser fan operates, then check that the compressor clutch also engages in these modes.
If all is well this far, find the receiver dryer (near the power steer reservoir on 6cyls behind the passenger headlight- is a cylinder with pipes coming out of the top), if your lucky it has one with a view hole in the top, if gas is present in the system and you have the engine running with the A/C on you will see gas bubbling around through it, if its low on gas you will see only a little bit of green moving. Sometimes it will appear to be gased but not have enough. Also there is a thermostat that switches off the compressor once the air is cold enough and it could have failed but will only cause the clutch to not engage, the condenser fan will still run.
The easiest way to check if you car has gas ( hopefully it has R134A- the more eco friendly stuff) is by the charge valves, two on compressor and sometimes one on the receiver dryer. If your not sure about the gas just quickly press one in and it should spray out green gas, dont breath it and dont get it on your hands. If no gas comes out but there is pressure in the system it is a good thing because it indicates that there isnt any major leaks.
Hopes this helps.
Yes in all three modes both your condenser fan (on the front behind the grill) and your interior fan should operate.
