    Default Clutch problems

    Need to pick someones brain.

    I have a VH commodore
    Injected 5L
    T5 manual

I have been having clutch issues from the day I bought the car, pedal not sitting right, clutch slipping etc.

I removed the old clutch, exceedy sports tuff

I have bought a heavy duty clutch from NPC performance clutches, new cable etc.

I have installed the new clutch, cable and cant get the clutch to disengage properly.

I have had the box in and out 4 times making adjustments to the clutch fork ball. It is adjusted the maximium it can be, there is just over 5mm free play.

I can just get the clutch to operate properly but the clutch pedal sits about 200mm above the brake pedal.

It has me stumped and I am at the point where i am about to swap the car for a VT.

Is there a difference between an 8 and a 6 clutch pedal? How do I tell the difference?

This leads me to my next question, Does anyonme have a V8 pedal assembly that they would lend me or sell to me so I can see if this makes the difference.

Has anyone else got the same conversion in there VH?
What components were used in the clutch setup and have you had any dramas like mine.

thanks for taking the time to read

contact the castlemaine rod shop,it sounds like a cable length issue,vh pedals and vn box. im guessing the pedal wont go to the floor when it is adjusted high,

Yeah the 6 cylinder and v8 pedal boxes are different. This could well be ur problem as the v8 pedal box has an extra section tack welded onto it to move the pivot point out further, and also the pedal is different too. And ur pedal box looks to be a 6cyl one.

Check this thread out on Aussie V8.

And here's pics of a V8 pedal box which was on ebay (got the link out of the thread on Aussie V8). The 4th pic in the add shows the extra addon bit clearly.

the cable will actually be too short, the pedal lifts as you shorten the cable

VL V8 pedals? They are only Auto. You need a V8 manual pedal box.

Mate I run a T5(VN) behind my 355 in a VK with the stanard turbo pattern holden bell housing. I used a VK V8 pedal box, VR V8 cable and have never had an issue. The position of the clutch lever pivot ball is critical. It should be a set distance from the face of the bell housing to give the correct throw. The distance was on the exceedy box but i have since tossed it. If it is too far out you are not getting enough travel.

the pivot ball pint is spot on with that exedy web site,
after all the problems with the brand new clutch we decided to put the old well worn one in that came with the gear box and that is working fine so were stumped!
the clutch cable has to be fully adjusted for it to work well on a worn out clutch which of course the fins are higher and pedal sits a little higher,

we are thinking wrong clutch was sold to us,or we fuc#ed it putting it in,or we need a custom made clutch cable.

if any one has an idea feel free to post it or just watch this thread it will be solved next weekend ill buy every thing new again if i have to and not chuck the receipt and boxes out this time lol.
