ok guys the oil pressure drops to nothing and this creats a tapping nois in the top end... second problem is the interior lights are shorting out the fuse which is the same fuse for all my parkers etc. i did a bypas wire so the parkers worked cos i wanted to avoid the po po!

oh and the front crank seal il ****ed. only place its leacking oil! how hard is it to fix?

I'm guessing you mean on a Holden 6?
Just a matter of pulling the balancer off, pulling the old oil seal out, then tapping the new one in, you'l need a balancer puller for that job.
The leaky oil seal 'may' be adding to the low pressure, but could also be a blocked filter, blocked oil galleries in the block/head, or a crook oil pump?

ok well there aint any water in the lights.... its the interior thats shorting it out. new oil pump so thats not it. its been flushed 3 times and each time with new oil. il be doing it again now its had a long trip but i got a feeling that wont fix it. yea im sure the oil seal has some influance on the pressure drop but its not a massive leak and there are no other leaks cos i lust replaced all the seals and cleaned it up and thats the only one thats leaking. what would the tapping noise be? im guessing its the rockers not getting enough oil?

yeah its the rockers not getting enough oil usually...thats if your lucky. leak or not the seal could be letting pressure escape without any oil leaking......where is the leak?
what you could do is pull of the rocker cover and have a look to see if there is any damage.....could be that you've snapped a rod but when there is oil there the sound is dead end. could be many things. just hope for your sake that it is something easy and not expensive to fix.

Just had a thought(don't know why I didn't before) maybe check the oil pick-up in the sump?
If it's damaged or blocked, the pump may be having trouble sucking enough oil up to create enough pressure?
Worth a look, even if just to eliminate as a possible cause it if nothing else.
Try running the engine with oil filler cap off, you should be able to see oil being splashed around.
btw- Has oil light been coming on/staying on, under load only, hard braking/cornering only..?

^^^ good suggestion, sometimes the two 5/16th retaining bolts come loose and it dosnt suck. just nipping up the two bolts will often fix oiling issues.

but yeah, the interior lights are on the same fuse as the tail-lights, (at least im pretty sure they are) its really common for the taillight gaskets to leak and water/corrosion to get into the bulb holders. so everytime your foot goes on the brake, 'pop' there goes another fuse.

the leak is def the front crank seal behind the balancer!
lol all the rods etc are worn but ok.... touch wood! had the rocker off and cleaned it all up! nothing is snapped so i think its just the lack of oil.

yea had the sump off and replaced the oil pickup so shouldnt be that. aint seen the oil light come on at all. not sure it even works lol. do they have an oil light when they have a oil pressure gauge?

yea same fuse as the parkers and revers lights but i set it up so i have power to the rear light but not to the interior and the rear light work fine. its only when i connect the interior light that the fuse blows.

Holden tried a 'new version' of the Blue Meanie, don't know about anyone else, but I think it's a disgusting, embarrassing, mockery of a Holden icon:

VE SS Based HDT SS Group A Announced | The Motor Report: Auto News And Reviews

I'm with the other guys on this this though, keep the VK shell, and Keep most the interior, but just upgrade it, maybe to a modernised full VK Calais interior?
Body, maybe go for a Calais lower kit, no boot spoiler or bonnet scoop, they're just gay.
Go for an EFI V8, anything from a VN, to as late as you can afford.. lol
Later model 5spd man, or 4spd auto, what your preference, and a nice LSD rear, say 3.08:1?
Then bring it all down to 'about' FE2(or lower), and sit it all on 17" rims, so you can go for a VT brake upgrade.
Damn I hate when my mind gets carried away with itself..

    haha.. Kewl..
I reckon any decent resto or build-up job takes more time than normal though, cause that way you're not rushed, and can get everything done right the first time.

EDIT: Yeah it's a wagon, but gives an idea how nice and tidy an EFI 5lt conversion can look in a VK.

lol! Each to their own I guess, I just find it ugly as all ****, like a new cover version of a classic song that's just been totally butchered.
