There is a Z shaped bracket front memory it is screwed ontot he back of the deck and up to themetal under the aircon vents, really hard place.

To do it you basically need to pull the top off the dash and remove the centre vent pipes to get to it.

    cheers

OK, i did this once, but i ddint take out the dash which isnt very hard and is what you should do, heres what i did (but i had little intention of keeping the original radio):

    1. Remove side covers, then front surround.
    2. the two little clips that are spring loaded on either side are a pain in the ****, i found it easier to just pry of the spring so they would move unless i wanted them to with a screw driver.
3.Look down above the radio, in the slit you can see screws coming down from the top, these screw into the aluminum housing of the radio so is pretty easy to strip out with a screw driver, just take your time and use a turning motion not an up and down one as that levers of the dash and you will crack the plastic.
    4. eventually you will get them out and then the radio will slide forward enough to get you hand around the back, and its a tight squeeze and then theres a screw on the back attached to a bracket that hold it on, undo it and then its free.

Highly recommend you just take the dash out though, its very easy, just pop the touch button pad off (pull up on the back right corner), then undo all four screws and it will come out but it may be a touch sticky from being in for so long, just be careful all the warning lights come out as well and the wires on mine arent very long to the plug so its hard to get your hands in there to unplug it. one you do that you see all the screws that hold in the dash and a couple of littler ones that hold the perspex on the dash. Take out the dash just unscrew it then pull forward enough to unclip the speedo cable and then unplug it, the plug will probably be brittle so be careful. then you can probably work it out from there..........

Did this once on my brothers grandpa spec vk, i think from memory you take the top of the dash off, which comes apart pretty easy, and there are a couple of brackets holding the deck in, i can remember taking the deck and bracket(s) out as once piece and not having to pull the lower part of the dash out. Then we used the brackets to mount the new cd player. Can scan you the pages later in the week regarding stereo removal if your till stuck.
