Default fast idle in a VH V8

    Hi folks

Have a VH with a 253 running petrol and LPG through a quadrajet carby. The trouble is most of the time it's idling up to around 1500rpm even when hot. The main idle adjustment has a small gap between it and whatever it pushes against so that's not the problem. Idle speed is higher with petrol than with gas but not by much.

Any suggestions? Maybe the choke's stuck on? If so, apart from a nice hammer how do you reset it?

It's getting registered next week so I haven't done many kms in it yet apart from a few test runs getting it roadworthy.

The choke uses a 'step-up' cam and have a habit of sticking on. I've found WD40 (or CRC) good for freeing the cam.

ok, so i can go into a long rant, but will get an idea of how it works first:

is your TVS connected/working so the little plastric 'tree' on the front of your inlet manifold is completely intact, not cracked, and all hoses leading to it are in good nick.

how is your choke horn going? is the heat riser on the drivers side of the inlet manifold sealed, no leaks all the way up to the choke horn, your fast idle adjusted? you know how to adjust it?

my guess would be that TVS isnt working properley.

It's amazing what a good squirt of oily crap can achieve. Thanks for the suggestion, it worked a treat.
