    Default VH 202 Alternator

hey just wondering whats the biggest alternator i can get on the VH 202 i believe right now its got the 55amp i was hoping to get a 100amp but dont want the single wire, still want it so the Battery warning light show's up and all that and one that is a pretty much direct bolt on no stuffing around also where would i get it from.

    thanks heaps Nath

soz bro, the only 100A's have a different pulley. serpintine i think its called, we have a V pulley. V8 alternators are 60A from factory. you can get an auto elec to chang the regualtor and install an exciter module for around 200 bucks which will bring a V8 one up to around 80A.

hmmm seems like to much fkn around to be honest, just worried with the new mono block 1600watt amp running the 2subs might not charge the battery like its ment too but ill see how things pan out and play it by year.

one amp will be fine with a 55A. its when you start adding electric fuel pumps and thermo fans you will run into problems.

your amp will only be fused for 10 or 15A anyway. shouldnt ever use that much. lights are around 20A on full beam, heater is 15A and wipers are 15A so with everything going sitting in traffic (at idle) you might start running on battery power, but thats ok for a little while.

multimeter will only tell you it has 14.5V, wont tell you the current draw. the only way to tell is disconnect the negative terminal off the battery while its running and turn your radio on full crank
