Default lol how to fix a ****ed 202 without even liftin the bonnet!

bit of a funny story and im kinda pinchin myself right now! ok well as ya all prob know i been tryin to pull the old tape dech out of me vk. do do this i pulled the instrument pannel out to get to it! while i had the instrument panel out i decided to swap it with the one from my old vk, simply because it has a tacho instead of that stupid eco metre. now once i hooked it all back up i thought id test to see if all the gauges work, cos the engine was runnin shit i had to keep an eye on the oil pressure, temp etc and i wanted to see if swapin em over would actually make the tacho work. so anyways i started it up and could instantly tell it sounded dif, checked the gauges and they all seemed ok. even the oil pressure was up about a quarter so off i go i get to the end of the driveway and take off nice and easy! still lookin at the tacho which went up to about 2000rpm but sat there! decided to give it a poke in the guts to see if the tacho would unstick and i was like what the **** it took off! not like a v8 runnin nos but compared to what it was like i was amazed! took it down a nice straight road and gave it to it listenin for that tapping nois i been hearin..... gone! all fixed! lol well there ya go there is my days story! **** im good just ask me!

ok now lets be real! anyone have any idea what might have happened?

What did you do with the vacuum line for the vacuum gauge? If the gauge was leaking and you blocked the line off then you fixed up a vacuum leak which could explain the improved performance.

I don;t wanna rain on anyone's parade, but if you have left the vac tube hanging off the gauge, all you have done is create a vacuum leak.

Are you running EST or HEI?

    Done an economy run?

Maybe your idea of running great varies from mine, but give us some more details.

just a screw will work but make sure you dont break the tvs so it makes an even worse leak. get a screw that is just that little bit bigger then the hole. im talking a diameter of maybe 1-2mm. nothing bug but just enough to seal it lol.
