Hi.
I just bought a 1985 VK Commodore, and its in realy good conditiong except for 1 thing. The car will start in the morning and afternoon when its warm, but when its night time and cold the car wont start. So realy the car will only start in warm conditions, does anyone know what the problem is and how i can go about fixing it?
This is my first ever car and i already love it, got alot of plans for it but i need it running first lol
thanks
g'day m8 welcome to the forum. now before we can start helping to the best level we need to know what type of engine it has. im guessing it would be a 202 as its your first car but the vk had 2 options when made....efi or carby, which one do you have?
also, saying "it wont start" doesnt really help much. does it struggle to turn over, or does it free crank without any fire. does it miss/pop/gurgle/hiss etc etc etc.
oh hi btw![]()
Sounds like a choke that doesnt work..........
Hey, nice to meet you all!
Its an EFI 202, as far as i know at least, its fuel injected.
And when i say it dont start it struggles to turn over, it sounds like its gonna start but it dont
chees
Hmmm, more like a flat battery or dodgy starter/connections. Try a different battery, because they will play up in the cold and crank over really slowly, if it doenst fix it check you start motor connections etc. let us know how you go........
also make sure that all the epa s*** is connected to the right place........lose/get too much and it will complain to start. you may have to get a service manual to do that......but they are always handy to have to troubleshoot problems
hey cheeres for the help guys!
turned out it was a battery issue lol got my mate to jump start it now it works fine, gonna purchase a new battery n leads just in case, also takin it in for a service next week!
thanks for the help again guys!
