hey guys today coming home i was coming down a hill and changed from 3rd to 2nd gear and when i put it into seccond gear it missed it and the stick is now facing bottom left past 2nd gear to the left more then it should. i managed to just get home rolling down all the hills with the clutch out and car running,
when in the drive i took off the center console and the bracket thing holding the gear stick in whre you can see the reverse switch ect like inside.. i can only move the shaft that is connected to the stick forwards and backwards. cant move it left or right..
with the car running and clutch out the tail shaft doesnt move so it isnt that.. i got told by my mates dad who is a tech at cars and he said it would either be jammed in 2 gears or out of place or something i forget what he said..
he said it would be better to get another second hand box so ill post i new thread about that..
just give me your thoughts ect thanks guys!!

My old XU-1 used to do that when i went from reverse to first. It used to get stuck in both gears and when you let the clutch out it would stall .I had to get under the car with a pair of vice grips and clamp them to the gear selectors to pull them into neutral. This was an Aussie 4 speed , the problem was that the linkages were worn and they wouldn't pull the selector fully out of reverse before selecting first gear .
Hope this is of some help
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
dont get a second hand box, reco your linkages, When I did mine on my VK when I ran an aussie 4 speed, I hard faced the linkages and machined out the slots back to where they should be, it was a little tight the first time, I had to reachine a few parts after that it was spot on.
It could also be your linkages out of adjustment, witht he cover off and the box in neutral all the gasts should line up, then change through each gear and make sure you can select each gear without it being able to just through to another gear.
cheers

We stand corrected you have an MC6 torquemaster 4 speed, absolute shit gearbox.
If you want a reliable 4 speed hunt up an M20 Aussie 4 speed, make sure you get the bell housing.
This sucks for you to get the box un jammed its a gearbox out jobbie, you need to take the top cover off the gearbox and manually slide the gears into neutral. but while you have the box out you SHOULD then take it fishing and install an aussie 4 speed for a box other than an MC6,M75 or M76
basically anything with the torque master name is rubbish.
If you want a manual for the box I have the 5 speed M76 manual scanned which is pretty well identical tot he 5 spoeed but with an extra gear, I can email it to you.
cheers

You don't need to take the engine out to replace the gearbox. Gearbox will come out from underneath. You undo the starter motor bolts and all the bellhousing bolts, disconnect the clutch cable, remove the tailshaft and gearbox crossmember and it will slide back and out. it will drop when you undo the crossmember so put some blocks or a jack under the box before you undo the crossmember.
scotty ill keep you informed if im after one.. if i cant get mine repaired ill talk to the mechanic about it..
whats an aussie 4 spd like? dis advantages and advantages?
