Hi All...
I have a bit of an issue with my dizzy and coil ill explain my findings and hopefully someone can help me out..
First i bought a new electronic dizzy from ebay (standard dizzy) and coil to match.. I drove the car for about 20km and then she died..
I immediatly checked for a spark as the dizzy was the last mod I've done and i had no spark directly from the coil...I advised the person i bought it off and i recieved a new module for the dizzy, changed it and still nothing..
So in my quest to find the problem i bought a new performance coil and that didnt work either..I also got a friends old original electronic dizzy and that didnt work either..
So in the end i bit the bullet and put the points back in, low and behold when i connected the dizzy to coil and turned on the ignition my wire to the dizzy went up in smoke and it went every were and now the wire is toast...With the point dizzy i think i may have put the wires on the wrong way as i put the wire from the dizzy to the positive on the coil(like the electronic dizzy)...
So here's what i do no..I have 12v to the coil when my ignition is on and no spark with 2 different dizzys and 2 different coils and a module has been changed in the new dizzy...
I hope someone can help me as I'm not sure how to fix this now without going to an auto elec. Well one come to me....
do you mean the ignition module on the side of the dizzy. and if so did the pins on the side of the module touch the side of the metal cover plate, if so it may have shorted out, it happened to me once its a real pain in the ass. is it possibile that you created a bad earth somewhere while working on the car.
check the dizzy is turning when you crank the engine its highly likely you have stripped the timing gear on the cam or the one on the bottom of the dizzy and its not even spinning causeing it to not spark
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
With the points setup you put the dizzy wire to coil -ve and power from battery to coil +ve. It might be a good idea to check if the rotor is actually turning when you wind the engine over because it could be a stripped timing gear as mentioned above.
