Hello. I just purchased a VC SL/E tonight, picking it up tomorrow after work. It has sadly been molested by someone that did not like what it once was.
Listed faults
-VH headlights/indicators
-VK rear lights
-VK Dash, center console and calais seats (trashed condition for all)
-Momo steering wheel
-Black 202, Mild cam, 2.5" sports exhaust and a holly 350 (believe thats what carb he said)
-All in primer, engine bay still in original white
Apart from that she is good. I think i need rear reading light covers aswell. She seems to have clarinet coloured internals from what i saw of the roof lining. Does white ext and red int match any VC SL/E combination?
I will post up compliance plate details tomorrow night when i get a hold of the car. Is there anyone here who can decifer them?
Will post pictures on friday when ive got the day off and the sun is out.

Shes not the the best condition which is sad. I was upset it had been so molestered, but couldnt let it go to someone else for $800. Its gonna be a real pain getting an original dash, centre console and seats for her is the only thing im really worried about.
Lets hope the pictures turn out already. Taking them on an old Nikon P1 8mp camera lol.

I can never understand why someone would want to do that to what was once probably a good VC SL/E. Why wouldn't you just buy a bloody VK? There are so many more of those around these days than VC's, such a waste.
I think there was only one red interior for the VC's and I think it's called 'carmine red' and is sometimes referred to as 'claret red'. It is the same colour interior that was used in the original VC Brock and it was based on the SL/E interior. (please correct me if I'm wrong!!) SL/E Nut is your man on this one however.
Good luck with the resto, (good) VC SL/E parts are quite hard to find...
Carmine is the interior colour/name. Its a plush velour too. I have a silver with non factory blue/grey top with carmine interior.

Correction on internals:- carpet is gone/ruined, has SL/E dash (missing ashtray) =(, middle roof light not working ( how do i fix? original roof lining) rear reading lights no caps. VK calais seats (front and rear, no headrests in rear)

Am i missing anything off that code at all? Is the pack number there?
Does this match white external, red internal?
Did a skid on trial run, single wheeler i think? no lsd? does have 4w disc tho.
Current top speed reached in suburbs- 190km's

with VCVX69(SL/E code) should have 3 numbers on the end of it. I can't help with paint codes. But the 77Y is for Carmine interior shade.
L14 is for 202
M40 is for 3 speed trimatic tranny
GU4 is for 3.08:1 diff ratio.
Also, cause its a 6 banger, it doesn't and wouldn't have LSD. Can be option however.

Doesnt seem to have last 3 numbers, as in pack number.....
Is it a fake? All internals seems to match an sle tho, seem strange to go to that much effort and see it as cheap as it was. Disks, interior, worked 6 and exhaust.
Ill have a look at her again tonight, or go home at lunch to check it. But pretty sure it didnt have those last 3 numbers after the model.

Found a link to someone saying the base model VC SL/E didnt have a pack code.

Post number 6, Smithy says that they didnt come with pack codes. But from what he said they were all. But do all the other codes match up to any other SL/E you have heard of? I though they were all 253 or 308s, not 202s. Ill try an post pics in next few days.

What that thread has, is for VBs. The don't have the option pack code. VCs however do.

Can you disprove that they didnt come with pack numbers everytime. Because my compliance plate has just the sle code. Not the pack.
Just wondering is all, i believe her to be a molestered SL/E. To have all the SL/E equipment and including original roof lining, disc breaks and tyre placard linking to being SL/E

The prime job is needs redo'ing.....yay fun. Previous owner just primed over the white paint, no all cracking.
I need a full body repair and new VC front quarters, to fix what they did to put the VH lights on her.
What would she be worth all original with worked 202?
Love the old girls, but want to atleast get my cash back for all my work on it. When and if i sell her.

Its an SL/E the VCVX69 is the SL/E code.

Looking at selling as have just recieved a V8 VS Statesman through inheritance.
Car sitting at my brothers workshop at the moment as dont have the room for her in my driver way. Anyone interested in her? Only chasing $750, less then what i paid. Please let me know if you know anyone that would like or if you are interested yourself.
Has amp and speakers, would have to have a look at what they are. If not i will scrap her for parts. And would rather not do that do an SL/E, as we all know what there real value is to collectors/restorers. Might pull out motor, box and exhaust if someone willing to offer decent money for them or the body. Also have 3k stall converter(not fitted) that i should be able to throw in with transmission.
