    Default Vk diffs

    Hey everyone

Im looking at putting a LSD in my vk sedan and just wondering which other model diffs will fit in with not to much drama. I have a disk brake diff that is unlimited slip but centres are hard to find.

    Thanks

unlimeted slip? awesome! so it just free spins? lol, soz mate:
Salisbury 28 Spline LSD - eBay, Other, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 25-May-10 17:02:36 AEST)
550 on ebay brand new. really easy to find. the hard part is getting good condition crown wheels and pinions in a decent ratio.

    or even cheaper:
Mini Spool Salisbury Diffs 28 splines - eBay, Other, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 04-Jun-10 12:30:18 AEST)
85 bucks for a mini spool.

depends on how much bother you can put up with in changing the diff. to go borg warner, as far as i know the tailshaft needs to be messed with, but thats about the hardest part the rest is pretty much plug and play.

personally i would stick with a salisbury. but i am weird.

VN/VP diffs fit but they are wider someone else should know how much exactly, but all the mount line up and the diff is centered correctly, just hangs out further either side.

you could prolly get wheels with a massive negative offset to counter the width, but the hubs would still stick out and yeah.. it'd look silly.

just keep the salisbury. they are a good little diff for anything around 300HP

Unless your guna put a stoker in or sumthing a salisbury will be fine, i got 1 in my VK and never had a problem with it.

you meen VK? i got a VK 308 with a 286 cam and T5 manual with a salisbury 10 bolt LSD and 3.55 gears and it goes pretty good. unless your goin to build a big engine or be going in skid comps all the time the salisbury would be fine

The shock mounts are different in wagons. Also, wagon diffs, VB-VK are wider than sedans.

I've still got the original 10 bolt LSD Salisbury in my SS.
275rwhp, I don't abuse it with burnout comps etc, but it's copped a fair floggin, including a track day flat out at Queensland Raceway and it hasn't complained yet.
And keep in mind the likes of Brocky's Grp C race cars all ran the 10 bolt Salisbury, so they can handle a fair bit.

So yeah, if you aren't packing huge hp, and don't plan on spending a lot of time doing burnouts, then the 10 bolt Salisbury would be the easiest (and cheapest) choice. And they are very common in LSD

Thats right now I remember they have studs instead of the brackets or vice versa

Just keep the salisbury in it like everyone is saying. They are stronger than you expect and if you dont abuse them, itll be fine.

I've got a VR diff in my VK, but it's dropped on its arse, which under any sort of load causes scrubbing (Had to put it back on stockies and take EVERYTHING out of the boot)
But if you get the guards rolled it should be 100% fine. Someone I know did this, and had it lowered 90mm off the ground with 18's on it, and it only scrubbed then if you put people in the back.
