Hey guys,
I've got a VK berlina with 202 and a trimatic but I want to put a 5 speed manual in (And don't have much money to spare haha)
I hear the 5 speeds that came out with them were crap, so was wondering what I'd need to put in a T5 (My diff is a VR Diff so it couldn't be too much different, right?)
I plan on mildly working my engine, already have a crow cam and gear to throw in, but I'm waiting to get a few other things first, so how much power can these box's handle?
cheers
Search the forum this has been covered a number of times if oyu have any further questions we can help

Call me blind and stupid, But I've ran the search here and I've googled and I can't find what I want to know.
I just want to know what needs to be changed over because in my head it seems like all that needs to be changed would be a bellhousing conversion and maybe a tailshaft from a later commodore? (As my trimatic tailshaft fits into my VR diff makes sense to me?)
If this has already been answered, please link me to another thread I'd greatly appreciate it.
Cheers

I just went through each of them one by one, still nothing on what I wanted to know. heh
To drop a T5 into a VK with a 202 what is needed and is it cheap?
Or another manual gearbox conversion that is cheap and wont shit itself on me?
I've got a Borg Warner 5 Speed, 2 month old clutch out of my VH. Let me know.

Link 1 - 202 manual conversion help please lol - Dont forget your Spigot bush
Link 2 - vk efi manual conversion - The pedal box is a bitch to put in
Link 3 - what gearbox should i get?? - Pretty good manual conversions list & Prices a gearbox is a gearbox the prices wont vary much
Price list I got from dellow for the VK.
Bellhousing + Pivot = 295
Pilot Bush - 25
Clutch Disc - 120
Speedo Calbe - 85
Rear X-memer - 55
Thrust case & camier (spelling its hand written) - 85
Tailshaft yoke - 135
A full reco box is 895 with a shifter to suit VK
Link 4 - vk efi manual conversion - More info on pedal box BTW its a bitch to do
link 5 - trimatic to aussie 4 speed conversion - more parts list this time for an aussie 4 speed - so change M20 to T5 and forget about gear linkages same same and once again refer to my site for info on mounting a T5
links 6 & 7 you might find the link to my site plus pick up a little info
link 8 - manual behind efi 202 - Pedal diagams!!! have I mentioned its a bitch to do?
ok i have had enough i think all the info is there, except for one thing Rare spares are now doing repro consol inserts for high rise consoles for both 4 speed and 5 speed boxes.
Take your Pick on boxes, Aussie 4 speed, easy to rebuid, strong reliable. Theres plenty of posts re borgwarner single rail M series boxes just leave them to be made into jack daniels cans, supra 5 speed, celica 5 speeds, even the T5 out of a vn-VT, forrd falcon your choises are quite open.l
As per link 3 wasnt it about $1900 plus a few extras depends what you get the box for.Go buy yourself 2 books, VB service manual not the crap gregories or haynes but the holden one then buy the VK SUPPLIMENT very very helpful.
thats enough from me l8r

PS - Even the forum software is smart enough to find manual conversion links I spotted this one at the bottom of the thread!!! auto to 5 speed manual conversion heres some tailshaft info.
Sorry if we dont seem very helpful and forthcomming with info bet we get a little tired of getting asked the same questions week in week out that have been answered many many times before and are so easy to search that the forum itsself and find links to answers
Also just incase you missed it,, dont touch a borgwarner single rail M series box, this incluses MC6, M75, M76 they are for 4cyl toyotas not commodores some idiot at holden who thought they would work needs a tailshaft up his arse. They dont last and thats the reason people pull them out of cars.

he was asking how to fit the V6 T5 not the old commodore 5speed hence why none of the info was current to his app
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
Deep depp breath....
Surly you arent serious you need a bell housing, you need a clutch, you need a spigot bush, the pedal box plus its a bitch to fit how is the above info NOT relevant it doesnt matter what gearbox you fit a manual box is pretty well the same you might need a different clutch plate, different bell housing, if he READ the info and looked at the dellows site or read the other posts and went to CRS site he could buy kits and bell housing for a T5. There are 2200+ and groing links on the forum to my site outlining hose to fit a T5 to a V8 commodore pretty sure its the same process for a 6. Anyone with even mecharno set knowledge should be able to read the above posted links and gleam enough information to ask a qestion about something more specific than how hard are they to fit. How much power can they handle they are behind V8 5L commodore engines im sure a 202 wont hurt it and thats bleeding obvious.
Ari #$%& I give up its your turn

"Sorry if we dont seem very helpful and forthcomming with info bet we get a little tired of getting asked the same questions week in week out"
That's cool, I understand this 100%, I think I've been confusing myself about what I'm looking for and am now more confused than when I first asked the question! haha.
I'm hearing about gearbox's now I didn't know existed (I thought the borg warner 5 speed everyone talks about WAS the T5, apparently not) so due to my ignorance I'm going to do a bit more research.
"bell housing, you need a clutch, you need a spigot bush, the pedal box plus its a bitch to fit" I think this gave me all the info I want for now anyway
Thanks, sorry for being a pain in the arse!

Ok Borgwarner made a gearbox that was in toyota corollas and other model cars of the period, the models were Mc6 (4speed) and 2 5 speeds M75 & M76 they dont handle very much power and if you plan to drive the car hard or hot the motor up the gearbox will not stand up to it.
T5 IMHO is the best choice for a gearbox giving reliability another good choice is the supra 5 speed, companies like dellows and CRS both do kits if you cant manufacture & modify yourself. Celica 5 speed is also another option for 4 speeds check out the aussie M20 boxes for a 6cyl.

Well sort answered my own question on differences to day cause i rebuilt my M76 cause it blew up (just a bearing), and i bought a VH 5 speed ( guessing an M75) because my housing had cracked and was unrepairable and found a few little differences between the two. Housings are the same but gear ratios are different, 5th gear is on a bearing in the M75 and on the M76 it is on a machined surface and a little pin on the 5th gear selector had circlips either end but the M76 one was just a pin with a head, few other differences but cant remember.
supra 5sp are the go..
