lol new question for ya guys... in the rides thread again.
ok im gonna use this as my help me thread instead of just makin a new thread every time my car has somethin wrong with it! lol cos it seems like its constantly got somethin wrong with it!
ok as ya might know, iv ripped out the peice of shit 202 that was in it and fitted the efi 202 from my vk i crashed couple years back! had it runnin before i went to put it in the new vk so i know its nothin too serious. firstly i wanna figure out is the fuel line is all connected up right! there is some sort of regulator mounted to the drivers side of the block. its not connected.... has inlet and outlet consistant with fuel line size... is it met to be connected? i have the fuel runnin right past it. another reason i believe its to do with the fuel is that its not on any of the carby pics iv found. cant find a pic of it on google or nothin cos ppl take a pis of the engine front on and the air filter ductiong is blockin the view or they take a pic of the passenger, muct be somethin to do with the big red efi manifold! would much appreciate if somone with an efi 202 could take a quick pic or just tell me where its ment to be connected!
secondly is i have decided to but the fuel pump and filter in the back. now only problem is i cant fine the right size rubber hose that goes from the tank to the pump! its internal diamiter is 12mm! huge i know! it doesnt have to be efi cos its before the pump. iv tried repco, autobarn, even holden dealership didnt have it! i need about a meter. cant find it anywhere so any help there would be great!
ok last problem is well i used an icecream container as a fuel tank just to see if the engine would run! it would fire but not run. as soon as the key went from the start to run possition it cut. so im guessing its another god dam electrical problem! now i did pull of some sort of relay because it had blown. i figured it prob wasnt too important as it obviostly wasnt standard cos it was tech screwed to the fire wall and all the wiring looks alot newer! i took pics but cant find the camera now! it ran from thepositve power (which is standard and would normally run to the starter motor), then to the the relay, from the relay to the starter motor, back to the relay, then finally to the wire that the starter motor would normally to. all i have done is remove the new wiring and connect the old stuff back up.
well im done typing for a bit and im sure ya siuck of reading. hope it all made sense.
any help is much appreciated guys! thanx!
i think the hose you want would be 1/2 inch if its 12mm. repco etc should stock it. maybe you jus were talking to muppets. what fuel pump you using at the moment?
na both autobarn and repco dont stock anything above 8mm other then like ya bigger hose for radiator etc!
and the fuel pump for it is the standard one that came with the efi 202! well at least i assume its standard! lol dont look like nothin fancy! i have pics but cant for the life of me find the camera! somewhere in the shed! four bays of pure car and bike marts mess! lol
the pump is on the fuel tank? i just wanted to check that it was the right pressure electric pump cos it sounds a bit like your not getting enough fuel.. just enough to fire a bit then die sounds like lack of fuel to me.
i have 1/2 inch braided hose, bought from burson. think its about 15 bucks a meter or something. have a whole box of it. def got it from burson.
well the pump isnt right on the fuel tank its mounted to the chassis right at the tank. ok take it bursons is ike a vic company or somethin? lol just never heard of it. im i sa. but ok il look for half inch hose rather then askin for 12mm. 15 bucks a metre sounds good lol i paid 30 bucks a metre for the 8mm efi hose! why do you think it woudnt be getting enough fuel? there is plenty in the tank before you ask lol.
here are those pics!
ok this one is a general pic the plug (c) is all wired up wrong! help with that would be great!
(B) goes into the plug other end down to the starter motor(A).
(E) goes up to the relay!
http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...plugedited.jpg
starter motor! (A) goes to battery. "original lead" (B) wires go to relay. "not original wires"
http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...otoredited.jpg
(A) is the wires coming from the starter and pretty sure one is the wire not in the plug in first pic!
http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...elayedited.jpg
the orange wire that comes from the plug. not sure if its an original wire or something to do with this dodgy wiring stuff!
http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...eboxedited.jpg
ok now those are all screwed up and hard to work out! at the moment i have dissconnected all the relay and wires and tried conecting originally! engine fires but wont run. but that could be because i still havnt fixed the fuel pump!
new is my altinator its a new altinator with a dif plug! any help there?
http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...atoredited.jpg
and last is my fuel pump and pick up! the hose is what im needing to replace!
http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...hoseedited.jpg
got to get to work now but please let me know what ya think the relay does etc any help would be great!
thanx guys!
pic 1. doesnt look wrong to me. C is your main power plug. thats the one i tell people to cut off and solder the wires together. the pink wires power everything 'ignition on' in your car, there is so much current going through the plug that the connections melt. red is + constant, black is earth and purple is starter. i cant make out what A is for, looks like an additional earth of some kind. and B i wouldnt have a clue.
pic 2. A is a solid battery wire, and the one thats all toasty and melty is the starter wire, the others i have no idea about. are you saying they hooked a relay onto the starter wire? its a good idea cos it stops your ignition switch from burning out, but i cant make heads nor tails from that pic.
pic 3. AH ok, thats the relay for the starter, its missing a wire. the smaller red wire in the back of pic goes to the ignition switch, the black is ground, the fat red in the front of pic will be battery + constant and you will need your purple wire to go to the opposite post, which will be number 30 on the relay (i think)
pic 4. is the original wire. you say "dodgie wiring stuff" but all VK's came fitted with dodgie wiring from standard. stick your test light on that wire and itll either be 'ignition on' or constant. i forget. as long as that thing clicks when you turn the key on, its working.
pic 5. hard to say for sure. C is battery + 100%, all the alt should need is that and the battery warning light, which i am guessing is B, no idea what the other one is. i reckon it may have been for something different, maybe air cond, but not sure. those plugs will only fit on one thing so you cant go wrong with just giving it a go (as long as battery + goes on the righ one!!!!)
pic 6. hose looks fine to me. is it leaking?
that is the basic layout of a relay. 85 is still chassis ground, 86 would be 'ignition start' (from the key), 87 will be battery constant+, 87A is not used, and 30 ges to your starter motor. all those numbers are embossed on the bottom of the relay.
thanx dude! your a champ! il leave the relay dissconnected til i got the car running good! all those wires in the plug are prob wrong cos they all came out! i tried my best to connect em up good but somethin aint right cos my headlights etc dont work! seems like i have no acc. yea the hose is nackered! i am puttin the fuel pump in the boot anyways so i need it extended.still cant find that hose! and that yellow wire on the altinator is suppose to connect to the other wires somehow....
hey well i have sorted out one problem! felt like a tool but it was a few of the spark plugs! they were rooted!
i was checking for spark using a spare lead and plug trying to save taking a plug out. so now it will start but as soon as i go from start possition to the run position with the key it cuts the engine! if i hold it in start position it runs great!
i tried a spare ignition slide and it did the same thing. its obviously more wiring shit but anyone know which wire? or got a wiring diagram that shows the key ignition and everything?
i havent got a diagram but it sounds like your 'on' wireisnt connected. itll be the big pink one in pic 1 plug C. if its not that pink wire then you have to check the other plug with a pink wire up near the brake booster, if its not that pink wire then itll be the one on your ignition.
to test before you go hunting down an errant wire, run a wire from the battery to the pink wire (plug C in pic 1) and see if it runs normally.
Ok il have a go! The pink wire goes from the plug to the battery. Whatever it is would it be the same wire as what would power all the lights? Cos none of my lights work either.
