Like the title says just was curious if anyone knows the largest capacity cc you can go in a VK? I know its ? x vehicle weight = max N/a cc. ? x vehicle weight = max forced induction cc
Well basically im trying to find out what the largest engine capacity you can put in a VK and get modplated... CC = cubic centremetres
from what i remember when looking at putting a new engine in my torana if you get an engineers cert you can go any size but there are restrictions when putting in an engine and just getting your mechanic to blue slip it.
there was a thread on ghm-torana . com a while ago ill have a search through there and post any finding that i come accross
yeah i remember reading somewhere that 400ci is the biggest and engineer can give you for a VK, but not 100% so dont take that as gospel.
Any vehicle weighing over 1100 kg's [factory designated weight for that vehicle], by the way always go for the sle, calais, fairlane, fairmont, or the flashest one of that model cause they always weigh a little more cause of the electric windows/central locks ,ect,'[even if you dont have all the flash stuff].....if it is mono constructed[ not a full chassis like a one tonner, for cu in you multiply the original weight x .294 for aspirated and x.244 for supercharged or turbo... ..............eg..1250 kg's would alow a engine of 367 cubs aspirated and 305 cu in's blown,..and now if your smart enough to have a one tonner or a 04 chev silverado or a 71 chevelle, which all have full chassis you muliply x.333 for asperated and .286 for blown hence a car at 1250kg with a full chassis could have an engine size of 416 cu in's asperated and 357 cu in's blown......
an lj xu1 weighs 1064 kgs so x.294=312 cu inc aspirated.....buy the way any 4 cyl vehicle weighing under1100 kgs you x .183 for asperated and .153 for blown.
thanks to suspct off aussiev8's for the info.
you can put whatever engine you want in whatever car. as long as it was rego'd before you put the engine in... doesnt make it legal though.
yeah thanks for the figures
nope, all LS2's are 364ci. The LS1 are 346ci. The LS3 are 376ci

A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!
