202 Engine Rebuild?

Hey all,

I am curious as to how much a basic engine rebuild (keeping it all stock) cost for a 202 Red Motor?
and where I am able to get this done in the sydney area.

how much of a rebuild you lookin' at? gas seats and klines? bore and hone? or just a re-ringer?

Well what ever will give back a bit more life in to the old girl, I dont want it super dooper just a refresh.
Also the engine painted red again.
I'm not really sure as to what would be the best option for me, so i guess a refresh see what is worn and replace it, tune up etc..

builders dont really like that word "see" they kinda only understand terms like "you bore this engine out...ok?" spoken loudly and clearly whilst making good eye contact. its usually followed by a grunt of some kinda and the builder shuffling off into his cave.

i got the prices for my V8 here actually, this is from a guy in melbourne, but should be a good guide as to what you will pay:

hot tank $45
bore / hone 8 cylinders 227 (so $28.375 per cylinder??? wtf, that doesnt calculate too well)
0 deck $100
conrod resize $116 (so $14.50 per rod)
full balance $272 (be a bit less for 6 cylinder)
10 thou over crank $136, again a bit less for a 6
40 tho off the heads $54 per head

cam bearings 30 bucks
big ends 47
mains 50
rings were ummm 150 i think
gasket set around 200 i think.

full reco on the heads were 800 for the pair, but i went bigger vlaves etc.

Around the 2k mark for full reco exchange motor. got a price here in bris for blue 202 about 3 weeks ago and was told $2200 exchange so a rted would be about the same.

I know what you mean you have to be direct and using correct terminology which i'm not exactly good at (obviously) haha.
What I don't want is a exchange motor as I want all numbers to be the same on the engine, and I trust this motor and do not want another.

I was thinking it might be around the 2k mark.

Can anyone recomend a few places in S\E Melbourne to get my 202 rebored/honed ported and polished etc.
I live in cranbourne and have been told to go to warby engine reco on south gippy highway but I want to know some good places others have been to.
