i know ive put up a threads on the varajet 2 , but ive got another question.

it seems to be losing its fuel out of the fuel bowl, any ideas why?
its a reconditioned one ive just put on
    ive tightened everything
looked for leaks but cant see any

i try and start her up after a week and she wont go unless i put fuel in it and even still it has a hard time

most carbs will evaporate fuel. not really much you can do about it. even my commo needs to have a few seconds before start up to fill the fuel bowl and i drive it everyday.

the problem is carbs need vents so they can work properley and all your fuel evaporates from there. that is assuming there are no leaks like you say. but yeah, a week in between starts should pretty much drain it. you just need to crank it a few times before you start pumping the gas pedal

thanks ari666 maybe the old one wasnt venting properly or something and thats why it kept the fuel (it was pretty dirty), just wasnt sure if there was something i didnt do with the new reco'd one. it had been left for a week so it makes sense

Air666 you should put a little button under the dash to manually operate the fuel pump so it will prime up and start first kick. Did it to my 5ltr cause it was forever cranking because it rarely gets driven.

id put in a button but its not an electric pump , ive got a good look at it today, when i primed it it was leaking out of the arm that goes up and down on the side (i think its the plunger arm maybe?) and because its parked on an angle it leaks out that bit, so i think if i park on a flat it should fix the issue. the old carby must have had enough dirt/oil in it to seal that up

i have parked on a different angle tonight to see if it makes any difference, it should be in correctly because it works great (but then i didnt rebuild it so i cant tell)

There would be a seperate seal to stop fuel coming out and thats whats leaking i would imagine, the plunger itself doesn't seal to he outside world.

your 100% right VKsl202. that plunger shouldnt leak at all. my guess is the diaphram inside it is dud.

this is one from a quaddy, i assume its the same. the blue bit in the pic is the diaphram that fell off the pump (in my hand)

got some more pics somewhere, i will try and dig them up.
