Hi, i was wondering how much it would cost me to convert my 85 mod vk to a manual and how would i go about doing it?
Depends, 6cyl (carb or EFI?)or V8?
If your doing it yourself labour wont be an issue, when I did mine years ago I did it in 2 stages.
stage 1 - install the manual pedal kit
stage 2 - do the gearbox
The cost will depend on what you buy your gearbox for and what you buy
Aussie 4 speed,
M76 (dont touch these)
Celica 5 speed
Supra 5 speed
T5
Anything non genuine your going to need a bellhousing for which will add to the cost unless you can get a good buy secondhand kit or bellhousing.
You will need a flywheel, spigot bush, a clutch kit, a clutch cable, use a new one dont skimp there. Also the clutch fork & cable assembly for the engine bay, a manual pedal kit, flywheel inspection plate, tunnel cover, rubber tunnel boots, gear shift inlay & boot.
Depending on your current setup and what you buy you may need a tail shaft or modify your current one.
Can be done in 2 days
cheers
Scott
Please let us know if you have a v8 or not, I am currently converting mine to an TH350 Auto for racing. So I have a complete conversion kit from Flywheel to tailshaft with a new recond Supra 5 speed (Suit V8).
Let me know and I will reply with a quote.
