    Default K-Frame for injected 5L

Hi guys, i am putting a 304 into my Vh and i was wondering if i can use a VR V8 K-frame? The motor is from a VN if that makes any difference. If i can't use that will just a K-frame from a VN V8 work?

    Cheers!

Your Vh one will work, V8 and straight 6 use the same mounts. V8 EFI will bolt right in as the block is pretty much the same as carb 8 and uses same mounts., and also VN k-frame will bolt right in but vr-vs require modification.

Yep sure will. Will just need to buy the 304 engine mounts, and it will drop straight in on the 202 kframe.

use a later model K frame for several reasons. I plan to do this to my VK

Later model rack can be used with increase clearence around the exhuast headers with the standard VB-VK frame and powersteering rack you WILL melt the top seals out of the rack in under 10,000km.
Allow to run later model suspension setup with better caster angles from factory
Ankerman angles will remain un affected
using the later sealed bearing hubs eliminates the need for the hub adapters when fitting larger VZ etc brake upgrades.

Any engine mounts for the EFI 5L will be fine O am running VN alloy mounts in my VK with aircon compressor ont he D/S at the bottom off the engine mount. It requires relocating the charcol canister, I run a VR later model smaller version.

    cheers
    Scott

Does the use of the later model k frame widen the front wheel base in the same way using the vn diff does? Looking at doing conversion myself and jus wanting to know as my vk sits rather low an does not have alot of clearance on inner gaurds as it is

Yep, widens the front track width.

the only difference between the early Commodore k-frames and the VN-VS models is the steering rack mounts.
it doesn't change the track. Believe it or not, the VN & VP had the same front track (1449-1451mm) as the VB-VL. They simply tapered the nose on the VN-VP to fit the narrower front track
VR-VS did have a wider track, but it was a result of the different hub setup. The k-frame measurement, however is the same.

I've fit a VR k-frame & steering rack in my VH. It was a straight fit (providing you use the VR/VS steering rack) I just used my VH control arms.
