Small Salisbury LSD's ?? WHAT MODELS CAM STANDARD WITH THESE ??
Hi guys im keen to get my hands on one off these i know they exist cos i just broke mine ..
If we can get a list of Models that came with these as standard equipment that would help me track one down.. i know they were found in some toranas , Wb one tonners and 6 Cylinder Early commodores I Was told mine was from a 6 Cylinder Calais... Confirmation would be appreciated
Any info much appreciated .. Dazz![]()
vb and vc had them so did the tonners and wb statos i belive
Basically 11979-1984 models is your best range to look at, the 85 VK and later went to a borgwarner diff. what did you cactually break it might be easier and cheaper just to fix yours.

Ive not seen a good one this century , they where never a strong diff I was looking for 1 earlier this year also every1 came across was broken. I dont think theres too many good ones left here in vic, (i looked at quite a few wreckers pickaparts)
all VB-VH & early VK, 6cyl and non-LSD 4.2L Commodores had the small salisbury.
5L Commodores and some 4.2 models like SS, were released with the larger 10 bolt Salisbury
so 253 were released with an 8 bolt salsbury instead of a 10 bolt. Well that may explain why I have an 8 bolt Salsbury diff in my shed with a V8 size yolk on the front of it. I always thought some-one had just fitted the yolk to a 6 cyl diff. I imagine the tailshaft would be an odd size as well.
WB one tonners had a ten bolt salsbury. WB utes and vans were eight bolt. The guts out of the old banjo diffs will fit in an eight bolt housing but the early ones had course spline axles. Banjo diffs went to fine spline in 1976.
