hey everyone im thinking about panting my radiator with silver to make it look like one ov the expensive ones and because im a cheap prick and cant aford a gen silver one i wanna paint the stock one with a thin layer of paint now iv come to a couple of conclusions
1 would it make the radiator hoter or overheat because its got paint on there
2 would the paint just flake off if i dont use a primer
and while im at it dose anyone know what type of paint i can use on my dash i wanna paint it black along with the console and steering colum i need to know where i can get it from and what it called eg brand .... thanks
supercheap autobarn around 20 bucks a can all i done was used prepsol some undercoat and car paint with a bit of clear bit dearer but looked a hell of a lot better
the radiator guys just use VHT high temp when they recore:
i think factory is just plain baked enamel. if you use cheap aerosol itll just flake off.
i wouldnt really use cans on the dash though, if you can get your hands on a gun itll look 1000 times better. use loads of plasti-prime and loads of 2k and itll last for 20 years.
I think the radiators were originally painted in GMH black which is just a flat mat black acrylic paint
If you want the dash black I would do a test first and try dying the dash etc black there is a product called dylon (i think thats the spelling) its a fabric dye, I used to use it when I raced r/c cars to dye white nylon parts black.
Doing this will mean it will never flake and look like it was always like it from factory.
It will mean you can also change the colour of all the plastic parts as well without having to replace them.
cheers
Scott
