    Default anyone know how to get a stock 202 running rough

    i was thinking that i wanna make my blue 202 idle ruff not in a bad way i dont wanna spend the money and get the head done is there a mod to do this or can u adjust somthing

    LOL every person I have ever known or even heard about wants their 202 to idle smooth, maybe try de tuning your car...

    yer my 202 was running smooth on 4 cyc lol but since im putting in a new motor this week i wanna see if i can get her sounding nice n ruff nut running ruff but sounding ruff maby ill just pull of the cat and leave the muffler or maby leave the muffler off hehe

    if i remember rightly 202s dont have cats connected to them as they didnt become compulsory until the vls feel free to correct me if im wrong tho

    anything unleaded had them vks did my 84 n12 et had it from factory,,,,although im not sure that the vb-vh did or didnt because mine didnt

    Nah, VH's didn't get cats, they were leaded fuel. vkjonno's VK didn't have a cat, maybe it changed half way through the VK's?

    Just throw a lumpy as **** cam in it, sound nice as.

    take a lead off? or swap two leads around. that'll get her running nice and lumpy.

    Lol here is one get a new set of leads and only put 5 on and leave the old one on! It will miss every now and then on the old lead while idoling but as soon as ya take off it runs smooth! Lol I didn't do that on purpose by the way lol the vk came like that!

    Get one of those ebay fake blow off valves, the one where you don't need a turbo.

    You could always get some speakers and mount them at the back of you car facing outward; the just record a lumpy V8 and just play it really loud as you drive up the street.,

    You could do something dumb like make a manual choke for it and pull it on and get it running real rich, my 202 runs really lumpy if you start it warm and pump it once to set the choke without it needing it. Sounds surprisingly like a 253 with a stock exhaust, you really have to hear to believe. Im gonna cop it for saying that but i got pulled over once just around the corner after i left a mates house and the cop wouldn't believe me it was a 202....................

    strange request....
    the manual choke idea (suggested above) is probably the best way to simulate the idle of an engine with a big cam, whilst still maintaining the ability to revert back to normal engine performance when required. Start changing leads around etc and thing is going to misfire both on idle and and acceleration, which I assume you don't want. Retard the timing and it will barely make 60kph on full noise.

    However keep in mind any of the suggested methods aren't good for the engine long term. So I'd highly recommend just waiting until you can afford a bigger cam

    350 ish. depends on what brand you want. i got a "megatorque" for 130... still got i here somewhere. you an have it for free if you are ok with putting a used cam in.

    Very tempting. I have been considering doing a full rebuild as I really want more grunt - in which case would probably go for all new parts, but I really appreciate the offer! What is involved in changing the cam?
