hey there i have done this it was relativly simple i used an rb30 and auto you need a vl kframe in yours and to make a gbox cross member with the wiring i got the full loom out of te car looked at all the relays and fuses cut everything out except for the efi and fuel pump relays and followed all the cut wires back to where they finish and removed then you juust use your starter wirring to the starter and wire the constant powers and ign wires to your carr from your efi and fuel pump its pretty simple did it a while ago if you want a bit more info pm me i did it a while ago tough but have wiring diagrams ect

No, you are not allowed to ever put an RB30 in a pre-VL commodore, doing so will result in death by firing squad.

I mean seriously, can't you run something else, like a 3800, ecotec or 5L?

I like the idea of an RB30 in a vh but i would want an RB30Det but then i think if i was going all that way to fit an rb30 i'd just get a RB25det or even an rb26Dett
i have always loved the look of a dirty geat intercooler and the Vh grill together

you could go a 3800 but the vl will shit over a 3800 with ease of modification and are a much stronger and refined engine

yes, i know some people dont like the idea but its something ive got lying around, (the whole car), the motors only got 130,000 on it and the lady that owned it b4 had it since new and shes been dead for 7 years, no leaks, runs smooth, and ive got a mate that ownes his own shop installing turbos and tuning and everything else that goes with it, its more of a show car than racecar for the strip, jus want to do something different instead of a buick or 308, im saving the big block shit for my monte, i will post up any progress of the engine conversion with piks, i was also wandering wat was the difference between the k- frames vl n vh kuz they look the same to me, is it jus the engine mounts?

i have done it its alot easyer if you go manual no need for a speed sensor at all or wiring to do with the auto almost halves the wirring i have nothing against buicks but as im a gualified mechanic the rb30 is smoother better on fuel and with a manual will hold up against a buick

engine mounts are Identical on the K-front the only difference VB-VL is placement of brackets for steering racks. Later models have other slight differences.

    cheers

the RB30 has crap electrics but it's a good engine
If I was looking at converting over an early model Commodore to an EFI 6, I'd carefully consider the RB30 with a Delco ECU conversion

are you sure the engine mount brackets on the K-frame for a RB30 VL are the same ?
I could be wrong, but I thought they were different....
