Are the trailer brakes working correctly?
    Everything secure?
How much weight did you have on the towball?

that would have been legally overloaded wouldn't it? early commos dont have a great towing capacity. actually most dont have a great towing capacity.

^^^ thats it mate. the VK were not as bad as the others cos' they put that stupid reinforcing bar on the boot floor, but i still wouldnt tow a car with one. hence me asking if the rear doors still close.

whats the reinforcing bar look like? my vb has a towbar that i used once to tow an enclosed motorbike trailer with 2 bikes in it. early commodores aren't good tow cars.

how far did you tow this car on your trailer for mate?

The VK will never feel right with that sort of weight on it, they simply aren't designed for it. You can get a second reinforcement that goes under the fuel tank which might stop the back end from folding up like a tin can, but the suspension and weight of the car are still completely unsuited to heavy towing.

We've towed cars on trailers plenty of times with old Commodores. Didn't realise it was unsafe. Never noticed anything wrong with the cars afterwards either.

its basically a stip of metal with various bends in it on the inside of the boot (floor) in the center which runs from the diff tunnel to the rear filler panel. my camera is at work and google images is no help, so soz cant help with a pic.
