Hey,
I'll keep it short and sweet.
Do VN 4-1 extractors fit into a VH engine bay?
I've a feeling the engine bays are fairly well identical.
I tried a set but was having drama's with them hitting the steering rack....well they didn't hit, but they finished right b4 the rack, but were aiming right at it, and ya wouldn't of been able to bolt the rest of the exhaust up coz the rack was in the way. I'm running manual steering tho (dunno if it would of been better with power steering). So I sold the extractors to a mate who was doing a EFI 5L conversion and he's used the kframe and steering rack outta the donor car as well I think, which is lower then the VK kframe and rack, all all ya need is a VL steering shaft bit to make it work.....and well his is all good.
I ended up going for a set of these.....should arrive 2day or 2morrow hopefully!

Thanks guys. I was supposed to put VH instead of VK actually. Same difference I guess.
I know I can get TRI-Y's to fit, but i would profer tuned lenght if possible.
Might have to put the weldind hat on again and Make my own. Ah well.
I would think using the information above, they should.
That said, if the 308 was that cheap couldn't he invest in some VN heads?
It will benefit him much more later on.
Im going to have to HiJack as well... Save me making another thread
VN heads, what is the deal with them as apposed to later heads?
VN heads bolt straight onto the early blocks. You need to change the cam, intake and exhaust manifolds to suit. Stock for stock, VN heads flow streets ahead of any of the early style heads. Brock X casts & VL Group A heads come close with a lot of work. Bang for buck the VN heads win hands down. The only stock cast iron head that is better is the VN Group A "D" Port heads which are the go if you can find a set.

Ok, thanks guys.
So VN-VT 5L heads flow better than VB-VL heads, its not just VN flowed great, then VP were shit again.
I remember reading on a site (can't remember which) that VN heads flow more stock, then carby heads can ported out as far as they can go.

VT 304 heads are supposed to be a slightly different design to the VN-VS, but still interchangeable
hmmm, i dunno about that, you can make the old heads flow quite well, there is no doubt that you need to do a bit of work to flow on par with VN's, and also you can take VN's a bunch further than you can the old ones, but its just a matter of making the inlet ports a little straighter, putting 1.94 and 1.6 valves in, and throating the old heads to make them even stevens.
having said all that, if your looking at a 400HP engine or under, (IMO) there is no need to go VN style heads cos with a bit of work you can get your stock heads flowing up to 450Hp which will be cheaper than a $700 set of extractors to suit VB-VK let alone new manifold, cam, lifters etc.
