Hi guys just need a few things cleared up, i have a VK sadan with 6 still in it and have 5.7ltr out of my VT that i know will fit with gear i can get from CRS, but need to know if i can use the six K frame? have asked a few guys and getting mixed answers.
It has 6cyl manual steering will that have clearence problems?
The car will be given a group 3 kit and painted Alpine white.
Custom black/grey interior
Will post some pics as soon as i get it back from the painter.
Well your 6 and 8 VK k-frames and steering racks are the same, but when everyone else does other conversions they have dramas with exhaust clearance around the steering so most opt for Vn or later k-frame with the different steering rack for greater clearance and it connects up by just using the VL power steer intermediate shaft. I dont know what an Ls1 would be like but i can only imagine it being tighter than a 308 conversion, so i would say VN-VS is your best bet but i have no idea when it come to the engine mounts- whether they are the same as a Vn-Vs v8 ones or not.
Castlemaine rod shop do the full kit engine mounts, sump, starter, headers, etc..... Will be getting alot of my gear from them.
if the LS kit is the same as a SBC kit, itll mean you have k-frame spacers which should take care of steering issues. the biggest problem is that the starter motor is on the drivers side (right where the steering rack is) and the oil filter on the passenger side.
I will get around the starter issue with a smaller body, performance starter. K frame spacers will do the trick CRS do them too.
you sure a smaller one will do it? i think the CRS's kit comes with a starter reloactor.
Have read that, was going to buy a full kit from them. As soon as I get the 202 out i will order the kit from CRS, next month I am going down to Fibre Fab in Geelong, Vic. they have the Group 3 kit, Has any one used them?
