The bulb and holder look like this:



They are tiny.

thats not them, they are BA9s



the above pictured bulbs are from later models (89 and up)

the illumination lights are T5 wedge and the larger warning lights (eg alternator, oil pressure, high beam) are T10 wedge
I recently replaced all mine with LED's, because the T5's are far too dull. Check this site out

I used the T5 Wedge Bulb - 3xSMD LED, they fit the standard T5 fitting and are heaps brighter & whiter than the conventional lights

Yes it is them, your pic looks like my parker bulb, definitely not what illuminates my gauges or my warning lights, the t5 wedge may well be its proper name. None of the bulbs in the dash have a metal base like in your pic.

hmmm, ok. apologies. for wrong info. i would swear my VK was BA's.
