VH Cigarette lighter not working but...

Hello again fellow JCians.

My VH cigarette lighter is not working when i plug anything into it BUT im running my UHF and some lights of the cigarette lighter's cables with out any problems. I also tested the connections with a light (light pen???) and it is getting power.

So what could it be? maybe something else not plugged in? maybe i don't have it put together correctly?

have a look at the tip of the cig lighter. ill bet its all rusty in there. if the coil is broken it wont work. if everything else you plug into the cig lighter cup (thingie) works ok then its def the lighter itself thats at fault.

Silly me. I mean the cup? (the actual place you plug things into) not the actual lighter is not working. So when i plug something in it gets no power.

So is your CB and that working off the cable before the lighter?

It might be shitty wiring to the 'cup', or even a faulty 'cup'

My one is ####ed as well, it is probably just age on the socket

check the earth to it. its either a plug that plugs into the side or a ring that screws around it. if thats ok check the power wire in the very back. if thats ok, then i dunno

also try giving the positive "dot" right in the middle of the cup, a quick scrape to bring out a bit of fresh metal for clean contact
