My V8 trimatic is stuffed but i have a 6 cyl trimatic sitting in the shed . How hard is it to change the input shafts so i can run the 6cyl trimatic behind the 308 ?
Cheers Mick .

que? the stall converters should bolt straight up, shouldnt they?
edit* torque converter/stall converter/tomatoe/tomatoe
The input shaft is shorter and i placed the torque converter onto the shaft and it wouldn't even turn the box over .

You need to mix and match a few more parts than just the input shaft - more clutches in the V8 version (and shorter pistons to match) as well as different shift valve springs. Things will swap around but if you already have the V8 trans its probably just as easy to rebuild that. Kits can be had for a few hundred dollars from the US with band, clutches, gaskets, etc: Holden 3L30 1969-Up Deluxe Rebuild Kit
If you're not comfortable with rebuilding it then I wouldn't suggest opening it up.
I know a young lad that had a v8 trimatic and changed it to bolt up to his 202...he's about 13 years old too lol.

Nice, get into it young while you're not scared of breaking anything! Its not so bad using a beefier V8 trans behind a six, so less need to alter the internals. Most people want to go the other way though because the V8 ones are harder to find. Although the EFI six had similar clutch pack configuration to 253 V8 versions.
Ended up getting a reco'd v8 trimatic . for $1000. Should have it early next week.
