VQ front seats into VK?
Apparently this can be done easilly, but can't work it out. The VQ passenger front seat goes in ok with the VK rails, but the driver side is different.
First of all, here's the base off the VQ seat. The 2 holes at the top left are to bolt the rear of the seat onto. So this base HAS to be used for the VQ seat.
Rear of VQ driver seat.
Here's a driver side VK base and rails. Ya can't bolt the back of the seat to this.
And here's another set of passenger rails I have.
The VQ seat base is narrower then the VK base, so even if I bolt the rails up to the VQ base, they too too will be to narrow and won't line up with the holes.
I want to do this without using the grinder and welder if possible, anyone know how it can be done? I might just scrap the idea and throw VK seats in it, it's really starting to piss me off lol
Not sure how the passenger seat was different to the driver seat, might have to pull it back out and have a look....sucks coz it took hours getting the 4 bolts in lol.

Dannyi think all you need to do is use a outside passenger side rail on the inside of the drivers seat, that's what I did to get the vs clubby seats into the vk, the bolt holes all line up.
Pass seat I used the vk inside rail and had some spacers made up for the bolts that hold it to the frame. Also used the vk bar to adjust it.
One would assume the vq and vs setup was the same as I know it was the same from vn - vs
Thx Staggie....rekon I got it sussed, different again to how u mentioned lol. Took me bout 5 mins. It's hard to explain, but there's brackets on the VQ rails which bolt to the other set of VK rails I had, which makes the upright bit which bolts to the mechanism on the bottom of the seat offset, where as the older VK rails are centred and are 1 piece, so now the rails are offset, they bolt up and they're moved out the extra inch that it need to line up with the original holes.
Will keep ya's informed and take a few pics when I get back to it.![]()

to fit vq seats in a vk you just need to use vl series 2 inside rails they bolt on to the seat and the floor perfectly the vq outer rails dont need touching ive got vs seats in my vk and they bolted up easily using the series 2 vl inside rails (the ones nearest to the trans tunnel)
thats what i posted on SC to fit vq seats to my vh... it includes pics so it should be easy to follow
with vk if there is a hump in the floor on 1 side for the catalytic converter then you need to get some vl series 2 rails as suggested by vkcommodore6 and use them on that 1 side for the instep as the series 2 rails can be pulled apart unlike series 1 rails
to fit the front seats to VH: the easy part
-get a spare set of VN rails and bolts (will need 2 of the longer bolts to bolt the rail to the floor as 1 bolt per altered side will be too short)
-remove the adjuster arm that allows you to go forward and back by pulling off a little clip thingy
-obviously remove the clip on the other side
-unbolt the rails that looks like this
-keep the full rail (one with the 2 circle raised mounts), replace the rail with the ones that look like this
-for the drivers seat replace the inner rail with the outer rail from the spare set of rails you purchase and vice versa for the passenger side, use the outer drivers side rail on the trans tunnel side..... ok confused look at the pic below lol haha
-bolt the rails onto the metal plate on the underside of the seat
-then connect the slider thingy back up again (reverse procedure to the removal)
-put the seats in your car and bolt to the floor as per normal
as you can see they fit lol niceeeeee!
back seat is where the hard part starts!
-remove the seat rail on the base of both your old vh seat and from the later model seat
-remove the trim from the base of the later model foam
-the later model foam needs to be cut in the middle of the base section (so measure up the exat centre and draw a line in the foam
-various sections of foam on the underside also need to be removed (where the seat mounts normally + the curved section for the trans tunnel hump)
-use some 3m adheasive (heaps of it) to stick to foam back together and wait for it to dry (at least a few hours if not 1 day cos it needs to be on bloody thick to hold, and hence will take a while to dry)
-the centre arm rest back section needs trimming of the foam to narrow so that needs to be pulled apart
-so you need to take off the black plastic back plate and the trim
-cut the foam off at each of the sides of the centre section until it aligns correctly with the base
-the backs will go into the normal mount with some persuasion and a lil bit of modding (centre section mounting is a little unknown for me atm but did put a bar through the foam so it sits on the mounting point for the time being, but some people just make the entire rear seat a 1 piece rear seat or so I have heard)
-use the vh rail on the later model base foam section,
-get a trimmer to make the cloth trim all fit again as obviously since some foam has been removed, the original coth material will be too big!
heaps of work! and obviously i have not taken my rear seat in yet to the trimmer lol :
