yeah mate SL/ENUT's right mine has it too!
There shoudn,t be any unpluged holes on the head.If you are talking about the two either side of first inlet port, they go into the water jacket.Other than that there are only the head bolt holes.Unless the head has air injection(3.3 black or 2.8 blue motor),then there should be one hole above each exhaust port.
Pics would be great.
I'm betting it needs a couple welsh plugs though.
nah the only welsh plug i need to get is on the drivers side because the motor was outa a WB it bout 3-4 inchs away from the oil filter but as for the head the hols are side by side ill get pics when i can and the motor is a 3.3 blue its all standard atm
i think this is what slenuts refering to?
That i am. Most blue holden sixes had the bits for it, only 2.85 version had em in use.

Vk EST all have em, thats a 202 too. And if there not blocked you get exhaust coming out im pretty sure.
It shouldn't do. Plenty remove them!

I assumed they would leak exhaust because isnt the idea to pump fresh air into the exhaust to help get a clean burn of any excess fuel coming out?
Your right i had a air pump let go on my first vk sounded like i had no exhaust after the headers i had them cut off crimped and soldered. Second one i removed myself and used loctite and grub screws much cleaner look. and less dodgey also keeps the cops from asking WTF are they cut off for??
