hey guys..
i have a vb with 253 and aussie 4 speed.. diff is ####ed..
im aware that vb up to vk fit and i can use a borgy as long as i change the tailshaft..
but... does a vl diff fit?
and can you use a 6 cylinder diff behind it.. obviously mounts are same but how much difference in ratio? are the yokes the same? are the 6 cylinder diffs weaker?
Also it was originally auto and has had manual conversion by previous owner but when i look in the car at the gear shifter it sits towards the drivers side of the hole in the floor by quiet alot..
it actually just touches the side when i go to 3rd and 4th gear.. is this normal? if not what could be the cause? incorrect gearbox mount? mount wrong way round?
cheers in advance for any assistance i recieve
yeah mate the vl diff would fit fine whn i had a vk 5litre manual it was running with a 2.6 ratio or somthing like that so then me and my bro bought a vl 6 diff place it straight in and of course we got a minispool put in to and it was runinng better.the good thing about the vl diff is its got 3.45 gear ratio and that good enough for the aussie 4 cos we only cud reach 160km/h with 4th gear thats the only down side with the vl diff.plus the vl diff has a shorter axle so that means you can run fatties on the back.
sweet sounds good. yeh topend and fuel costs dont really bother me. Its not an everyday driver. how do i go about correcting the speedo?
