    Default Bonnet mounted gauges

I have purchased a set of aftermarket gauges 5" tacho and shift light that has been mounted on the right hand side of the dash on door pillar. 2"volts gauge in pod fitted to the B&M shifter case

I have a 2 left to fit water temp and oil pressure both 2" and pods too
Is it legal to fit these gauges on the bonnet they are electronic gauges and will be in black gauge cups???? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!! ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty sure its illegal cause i had a mate try get an engineers certificate and the engineer wouldn't pass the car with gauges on the bonnet, IMO bonnet mounted gauges are gay but each to there own.

When they are on bonnets I assume it's coz they're mechanical gauges which are more accurate/reliable and aren't allowed inside the cabin incase they break and ya get a faceful of hot engine oil or coolant. So there is actually a reason behind it.

Fulliii Sik!!! .... sorry had to get that out of my system

I did some bonnet mechanical mounts for water & oil temp on a VH, to get them through engineers we mounted a VKgroup III bonnet scoop tot he bonnect and mounted them under the scoop, still visable tot he driver and perfectly safe, the car was a modified concourse car it was purely about getting points, the electronic guages now are very accurate and perfectly good enough for high end race cars and will be good enough for a commodore.

    cheers
    Scott

They certainly are illegal in all states as the vehicle will no longer comply with pedestrian impact standards. As per what Scott said, the only real option is to cover them with bodywork.

To the OP this is the only way to keep it legal. The issue is with pedestrian collision regs and the only way I know of to get them legal is to cover them with a rear facing scoop similar to the old Brock Commodore or A9X style.
