vh paint question

hi there a purchased an ok vh a year or so ago.

when i first purchased it the previous owner said he "tried" to clean all the dust,mud and leaves and stuff of and it,but failed and flaked the top half. I thought it look faded due to sundamage,hence the top being a lighter colour,but looking at it now it looks like a completely different colour to the bottom half of the car.did these vh's come with a lighter silver colour on top kinda like a 2 tone? if it helps its an slx and it has a 2 tone green interior (dark and light greens).just wanting to know as i plan on getting it repainted at some point in the original colours.

i dont think they came in 2 tone silver over silver i know they came in two tone blue over silver,green over silver and burgandy over silver with the sle but silver over silver dosent make sense to me id say your paints probably farked check your tag in the engine bay it will tell you what colour its supposed to be by the colour code.

bottom pic clearly has been resprayed. the rear door and 1/4 totally different colour to the front door/guard

resprays fade, factoy paint generally doesnt.

i looked on this site GM Holden Colour Codes

and the closest code is GENERAL MOTORS HOLDEN ICE GREEN 2C026/9322 1981 1982 METALLIC.

yeah i have looked at that paint code site a few times and it is not 100% take that code to your local paint supplier and they can match up the proper tint via their wizz bang PC's

well i had a real close inspection today, and i can see the factory colour under the faded flakey silver.... should have gave it a good check before jumping to conclusions..... my apologies ari

Well i was thinking of doing the silver on top like the previous owners did , but then i saw a green Shadow tone hdt vb in a magazine.It looks wicked and it would go well with the 2 tone green interior.

I have ideas,but no plans as of yet, but if i had to fork out 5-7g's i definitely won't be getting the original colour lol.
