    EST = electronic spark timing.
    the carbed 6 cylinder engine in the VK used a standalone computer controlled ignition advance system in place of the conventional mechanical/vacuum advance.

    Wasnt it
    Electronically Stuffed Timing??

    The 5L carb ran an electronic dizzy & ignition and EST wasnt used. What I suspect is the the person who did the conversion did what I did was wired up the engine check light for the 5L to the EST light giving it a factory look.... So your computer is probably displaying a fault code.
    When does the code appear, what computer are you running, what wiring harness are you using? I can then tell you how to get the fault code for the fault so we find out what it is.

    lol yeah probably in the VK EST it was stuffed timing, most people ended up putting the blue 202 distributor back in
    strangely enough the EFI 6 used the conventional distributor, didn't use EST

    however EST is of course used in all the Holden EFI engine ever since. It's just now incorporated into the ECM.

    When the OP said that EST was on the dash, I was thinking that I can't remember an EST badge on the dashes ?? lol! EST light however..... I reckon you'd be right, someone has hooked it up as the check engine light. Good idea, I hooked my check engine light through the holden emblem light on my VH dash
