Hi,
Im looking to rebuild a 308 ive got for running on straight gas. However im not sure what parts need to be different to stock when it comes to running it on gas 100% of the time (want to pull the petrol tank out cause with the prices how they are, I dont think ill bother with petrol anymore). I know I need things such as hardened valve seats, and ive seen mention of different cams too, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything else that needed to be changed.
And if you know any good stores in Victoria that can help get the parts for a gas rebuild, that'd be great!
Cheers,
Basically a gas engine build is the same as the petrol engine build except CAM wise if your running dedicated LPG get a grind suited for LPG talk to Crow Cams about this (www.crowcams.com.au) Head work you will need hardened exhaust valve seats but whilst your at it install a new set of good valves, and valve spring gear talk to crow about that as well.
Do some research into intake manifolds as well there may be certain manifolds that may work better for gas may be not but look into it.
Also you can get after market ignition systems that will enable you to run a better ignition curve for LPG.
Also for your gas tank talk to a gas specialist about running multiple smaller tanks instead of one large tank it should give oyu better ground clearance if you mount the tank under the car.
cheers
