hey guys i just ripped the blue motor out and put in a worked red, with a 350 holley and dingo manifold, the car starts runs and drives fine, but my temperature gauge isnt working nor my fuel gauge, any help would be great, cheers daniel
fuel guage shouldnt be related, but temp guage is a single wire. to test if its a faulty sensor, touch the temp wire onto earth and check your guage, it should go off the scale. if it does, then its a faulty sensor, if not then try looking around your dash.
but just because there are two not working, im guessing itll be a problem with your dash.
cheers mate, will try that in the morning, how do i get my fuel gauge to work?
well to test it would be the same deal. it works on resistance in the same way as the temp guage (im pretty sure) you will need to get under the fuel tank and ground one of the wires, from memory i think its cream, but could be totally wrong. earthing the wire will tell you if the circuit is working. if so then you will need to replace the sender which is inside the tank and an absolute arsehole to get to.
thats all i needed to know, cheers guys bloody nightmare,im thinking about just getting new gauges i just want the fuel n temp to work,is the temp wire green?i ripped my blue motor our for the worked 202 red and everything different
after pulling my 202 in the vk to change the tranny ive got the same problem fuel and temp guages both not working ill be keeping an eye on this thread to see if you have any luck ,keep us posted.
the temp sender is at the rear of the head on the drivers side (black motor at least) red could be the same its green on a 202 too.
cheers guys im gonna have a try now..if no luck maybe a 4 in 1 tacho or some gauges,i mainly want my fuel gauge to work.
mines on straight gas but used to work through the fuel guage on the dash so i just installed a gas guage for that, as for temp ill probably do the same and just get an aftermarket temp guage.
yeah but if the fault is in your senders (which i will bet it is) then an aftermarket guage will have the same problem.
ive got a spare temp sender on another engine might have to give that a go first ,i was thinking it was the pcb in the cluster because i occasionally have to hit it (my dash) to get my tacho/oil press and volt guages to work.
or you could just short out the wire to save yourself all the ball-ache of changing another temp sender![]()
