hi all i'm new here so i hope i'm doing this right.i have a 1985 vk berlina 3.3 E.S.T auto with 42,500 k's on the clock.has books and was owned by an elderly lady in bendigo .it was only used to go to the corner store and back and also sat for 8 or so years under her carport without being used.it was last registered in 2008 and i have recently registered it here in nsw so it had to go through a blue slip which passed easily.it had damage to both quarters and boot which have been repaired and are now in primer.there are some dents in the roof which i am repairing soon.the interior is extremely good with the exception of a 5cent pce size hole on the outer bolster of the drivers seat, and the vinyl on the console has some shrinkage which i am going to fix.i have put frontseat covers on to protect them.when i replaced the bootlid i used a calais one so it has a calais rear end.the boot is fully carpeted,it had no stereo in it when i got it so it has a new sony cd player.however i went and seen the original owners son and he gave me the factory micro command radio cassette player, factory parcel shelf speaker and factory mudflaps.i have put a sports wheel on it and put the original wheel away as it is extremely good.everything works.electric aerial, lights, switches everything.it had the factory 14" steelies with berlina hubcaps which i have also put away along with the berlina side strips.it now has 16" clubby style rims on it.when i was getting ready for the blueslip i was going to repair a small hole in the rear muffler but it just fell to bits once i started to take it off so i just put a straight through pipe from diff to rear which gives it a nice note.under the bonnet is in real good nick,i have just given it a service and before it came off the road in 2008 it had a new water pump, radiator and a few other things done like aircon regassing.it's a great car and i am enjoying cruising in it.i'm torn whether or not to sell it but i've got too many cars on the go and i wanna finish my VH SL/E which has been an ongoing custom project for a while now but that's another story.anyway, any ideas on what this sweet ride would be worth?
thanks all i hope i done this right, cheers
I would be questioning the 'original 42,500 km's'.
Imo your better off repainting it and then trying to sell it. As it will probably turn a few people off buying it
the k's are genuine.and you only have to look over the whole car to see that.and it's on record everytime it's been registered.anyway,i am going to spray it in the next month or two.it's a great cruiser but i don't wanna put too many k's on it!!I would be questioning the 'original 42,500 km's'.
at a rough guess about 3k theres been a vk with 65,000 genuine klms on it clean as and totally unmolested been on ebay for near 12 months for $4500 and still hasnt sold.
well if thats the case and its all og and you do paint it i'd advertise for 4k and maybe aim to get 3.5k?
yeah i seen both them cars.once i respray it all original colours i'll probably put 3 to 3.5 on it.i'll aim to get 2.5 or higher.cheers everyone
Engine bay looks mint like mine did....... until the battery blew up![]()
being a VK it does not have the collectability of a VB-VC. Those restored are worth up to $4500-5000. restored VK no more than $4000, considering its a berlina and as such noticeably rarer.
yep with a new paint job could fetch 3-4K (around there).
looks pretty tidy throughout! id get it painted and keep it.....unless you need the cash or garage space then sell it.
if i wanted a tidy vk again....id definately pay 4k for it if the paint was done perfect
Best way to tell dodgy Klm's is to look at the brake pedal pad they always wear out and people don't pay enough attention to change them over.
