can you set the floats? sounds like its either running out of fuel or perhaps pinging. try playing around with the timing while someone revs it.

mec hanical pumps will be more than enough for a 202 with a mild cam, unless its stuffed.

My bro has the same carby on his 202, it was forever playing up and no one could work out what was wrong with it including friends and 3 different mechanics.

In the end he just kept taking it back to the same place over and over and it ended up being the steel float, had a tiny pin hole you couldn't even see with your eye that was letting fuel in and weighing down and flooding all the time. Making the carby think it always needs more fuel and drowning the engine making is splutter.

Not sure if you have checked out the float but they just replaced it with a plastic one and it ran perfect ever since.

The carby has probably got the wrong main jets in it. A carby normally runs on the idle jets up until around 2500 rpm and then gradually uses the main jets more as the revs rise. Normally an engine splutters because it is running rich and will surge when running lean.

    Use a V8 throttle cable.
