    Default random idle, stalling problems

    hi guys i got my hands on a vh 5 litre v8, and after i got it started, it idled funny and bogged when acclerating, got a can of carby cleaner, ran it through, cleaned the distributor, bought new leads, not it starts and idles like a dream, revs out nicely, but if im driving it, i step on it, it has a flat spot around 2000rpm, until the secondaries open it just makes noise, then itl get some power going, after i step of, put the clutch it, it wants to stall, if i dont accelerate itl die...

    im thinking vaccum leaks?? what could it be?>

    I'd certainly be chasing a vacuum leak mate.
    Hows the vacuum advance looking on the carb?

    Have you changed the Dizzy cap and rottor?

    the secondry metering rod need to be set there is a screw underneth the top plate of the carby on the rod that gose threw the secondry air butterflys on the drivers side its a allan key job this bloke knows a lot about them check this site out Qjet Tips

    and just for good messure here is anuther one hope this will helphow to rebuild/ modify quadrajets (also vac hose diagram)
